FAQ: The Noor Collective
Handcrafted, Ethically Sourced, and Cruelty-Free Candles
1. What does “handcrafted with care” really mean?
At The Noor Collective, we hand-pour our candles in small batches to ensure quality and consistency. We also pre-blend our fragrances—whether fragrance oils or essential oils—and allow them to “brew” before pouring. This careful process maximises scent throw and ensures every candle burns cleanly and evenly.
2. Which waxes do you use?
-
Coconut & Rapeseed Wax (for Container Candles)
Our container candles use a blend of sustainably sourced coconut and rapeseed wax. This wax burns cleanly, has a lower environmental impact than paraffin (and often soy), and delivers an excellent hot and cold scent throw. -
Beeswax (for Moulded Candles)
We source beeswax from farms where beeswax is a byproduct of responsible honey harvesting. These farms adhere to ethical practices that protect bee populations. Burning beeswax also emits negative ions, which can help improve indoor air quality.
We avoid soy wax due to its significant impact on deforestation, pesticide use, and soil degradation—making it potentially just as environmentally harmful as paraffin.
3. What about your wicks?
We do not use wooden wicks. Instead, we choose eco-friendly wicks that are best suited for optimal burning times, while being environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced. For our moulded candles, we use flat braided or hemp wicks with beeswax coating. This ensures a steady, reliable flame without unnecessary additives or metals.
4. How do you scent your candles?
Our range includes both fragrance oil blends and essential oils:
-
Fragrance Oils
Created for a luxurious, robust scent throw, filling your space with beautiful aromas. -
Essential Oils
Derived from natural sources, offering aromatherapy benefits. Some of our essential oil blends are pet-friendly, but please check individual product labels to be sure.
All scents are ethically produced and undergo our custom pre-blending process to maximise fragrance quality. We do not currently claim our fragrance oils are skin-safe.
5. How sustainable is your packaging?
We minimise plastic usage and opt for high-quality, sustainable packaging wherever possible. Our tin design allows them to be reused for other storage once the candle is finished, or you can take advantage of our refill services for custom orders.
- Tins: Food-grade, BPA-free, and coated in a safe lacquer.
- Reuse or Refill: Once your candle is done, simply put the tin in a dish with hot water to scrape out any remaining wax and clean the tin thoroughly with dish soap to store food, spices, or other items—or have it refilled to continue enjoying our candles.
6. Do you offer custom or wholesale orders?
Absolutely. We often make our candles to order, helping reduce overproduction and waste. For custom requests—whether scent profiles, packaging, or bulk orders—reach out to us directly, and we’ll be happy to discuss how we can meet your needs.
